Manhole Construction Updates:
As many of you are aware we have been busy on the streets this summer adjusting our manhole and water gate valves along Route 201 and some of the side streets. When DOT or the Town of Jackman or Moose River moves forward with repaving streets the Jackman Utility District is responsible for adjusting our infrastructure (manhole and water gate valves) up or down accordingly. We also take this time to preform any repairs necessary. We have completed the adjustments on Rt 201 and are currently working on the side street adjustments. We appreciate your patients and willingness to help keep our crews safe while you travel through our construction sites.
Hydrant Updates:
Along with providing safe reliable drinking water to the Moose River Valley, our system was also designed to provide fire protection to the Valley. We have 35 fire hydrants placed throughout the streets of Jackman and Moose River.
We exercise the hydrants both spring and fall to accomplish two things; One to ensure the hydrants are operating properly should they be needed during a fire emergency and second to flush our water mains of any sediments that may have settled out over the months. This guarantees safe fresh water throughout our 7.5 miles of distribution system. We are in the process of replacing some of the older style hydrants. We have replaced 7 in the last 2 years and plan to replace 14 more at a rate of 3 per year over the next 5 years.
